It's only a matter of time

Here are three recent statements from John Kerry.

"If Condoleezza Rice can find time to do '60 Minutes' on television before the American people, she ought to find 60 minutes to speak to the commission under oath. "

"If the president of the United States can find the time to go to a rodeo, he can find the time to do more than one hour in front of a commission that is investigating what happened to American intelligence and why we are not stronger today."

"If the president can find time to throw out the first ball of the season, he can find the time to throw out the first efforts for real peace in the region, and I think it's long since overdue."

I hope he stops this particular line. It's empty, but that doesn't really bother me - most political rhetoric is empty. I hope he stops because it's just bad.

I got no real problem with the point of the first 2, but you're right, time to retire this.

"bk", I agree. The first two statements barely registered with me, but the third one was so bad that I took notice. The bottom line for me is that Kerry desperately needs help in communicating his message (once he finds one).

The problem with all three statements is that neither Mr. Bush's nor Dr. Rice's reasons for NOT testifying ever had antyhing to do with not "having time" or in any way being too busy. They expressed (whether rightly or wrongly) that they felt it was an issue of executive privelege. Mr. Kerry is way off the mark then in his assertions about not "having time" and he only portrays himself as being flippant. He is digging his own grave.
