Electronic Voting

Joe Gandleman has cast his ballot on one of those controversial e-voting machines.

I just voted using California's new computerized voting technology. There seemed to be a bit of confusion. The line was longer than usual because they had two precincts voting in the same area and there was even a bit of confusion over lists. The actual technology was definitely more clearcut than our old punch card ballots, sent to Voting History Hell due to the Florida 2000 vote fiasco (the only hanging Chads California wants are on death row). Now it's all computerized which allows you to press a key to vote, go back and correct a vote, even see what your total votes so far look like during the votes and at the end. It's much faster and easier on a computer -- but I didn't enjoy the pop up ads telling me I needed an "enlargement..."

LOL! I didn't see any popup ads on MY voting machine!! I really like the new touch screen voting. Of course, I'm one of those voters who fills out the sample ballot before going to the polls. I also really like the summary at the end -- I get to see exactly who got my votes and if I need to make a change I can go back. Very nice.

...at least, you got to see who the computer
showed .... PROBABLY the right
person...
