Shady Shores, Texas

Shady Shores, Texas is a town that I've never visited. It's a very small town on the shores of Lake Dallas; it's any small town in America.

Why should we care about Shady Shores, Texas?

Tonight, the ABC Evening News reported that that the total number of US wounded in Iraq since the start of the conflict had risen to 1,461 human beings; Americans; Soldiers; Sons and Daughters. In 2000, Shady Shores, Texas was reported by the Census to house 1,461 human beings.

Tell you friends about Shady Shores, Texas tonight. Let them know the extent of the injuries suffered in Iraq. We owe it to our troops to recognize the sacrifice they have made!

has the following information:

More than 1100 US soldiers have been injured in action in Iraq since March, including 561 since the official end of combat operations on May 1, but only one in seven has died from battle injuries after being given medical treatment.

In the second world war, one in three of those wounded in combat died as a result of their injuries. In Vietnam and the 1991 Gulf war, just over one in five succumbed to wounds.

A US army spokesman said the vastly improved survival rates were down to the use of Kevlar helmets and body armour fitted with ceramic protection plates, new medical techniques and the fact that the Iraqi resistance has not used heavy weaponry such as artillery.

Colonel David Polly, chief of orthopaedic surgery at the Walter Reed army hospital in Washington, said: "We are seeing very few chest or head wounds.

"About 80% of the injuries to our guys are leg and arm injuries.

Max Cleland had "leg and arm injuries"

I admire the bravery of our men, and won't let the media put a positive spin on the blood our nation is bleeding for this war. There are 1,461 American's who could otherwise be healthy had our administration not created the need for this war.
